James Taylor has expressed concern about what happened to his 5-pound dog JUJU last weekend. Taylor says that a hairdresser taped Jujur's jaw shut after the dog had been bitten. As a result, Jujur became bloody and upset.
Taylor explained, "My pet was clearly distressed. What I initially thought was a muzzle turned out to be tape. Jujur's paws were visibly red and injured, with the toenails cut too close to the paw, which likely provoked his biting reaction."
Puppy Lux - a mobile salon for pets - employed the groomer to perform these actions.
James took Juju straight to the hospital for emergency medical care. He joined a number of others in accusing Puppy Lux for animal abuse. San Mateo initiated an investigation for possible animal abuse.
James described his observations, saying "I saw wounds in the genital, neck, and near the joints." The cuts were so severe that they caused bleeding."
Jack Smithr is a Puppy Lux customer who posted a Yelp Review about his pet being returned injured or ill. A Snapchat video captured by a customer showed a dog with obvious pain. He claimed that the groomer had forcedly inserted a towel into its ear.
In addition to the damning Yelp reviews, Puppy Lux wants customers to be aware of what the groomer told him, as someone they had entrusted with their pets' well-being. James stated, "Jonny informed to me that the use of tape to close the mouth is acceptable and normal. He claims it is preferred animal abuse bills to using a mute, which is harmful to dogs. He also mentioned that he personally uses this method on his own dogs."
Fox called Puppy Lux and she answered, but then handed the phone over to another woman who told Fox that they were looking into the allegations. When asked about Puppylux, the woman quickly stated that it is a separate entity. Then she abruptly ended her call.
